How to dress for your height

10 Fabulous tips on how to look badass at any height!

Short (under 5'3) Typically when you are short in height you will usually have the following objectives with your dressing

  1. Appear longer
  2. Create a flattering silhouette (using the rule of thirds, so you don’t split your body in half)
  3. Avoid boxyness

This is relativity easy to achieve with a few pointers below:

  • Fit is king here! Clothing with a bad fit will add extra bulk. Spring for fitted jeans and a blazer (or a pencil skirt).
  • If you are wearing a dress, add a small belt around your waist. This will also give the illusion of having longer legs.
  • Try palazzo pants! They will immediately give you proportion, not to mention they are super comfy.

(Average 5'4 - 5'7)

  • Skirts and dresses are your best friend! A knee-length A-line is a classic style that will give you the perfect proportion of skirt to leg
  • A hard-to-pull-off ruffled hem won’t overwhelm you (as it can on more petite women). Just go with a hi-lo version for its leg-lengthening benefits.

Further emphasize your curves in a peplum top. The flared waistline will enhance the proportions between your waist and hips.

Tall (5'8 and above)

  • For skirts that are an awkward midi length, wear them higher on your waist. This can also help balance your proportions.
  • To make pants that are too short seem intentional, make a small cuff at the bottom and add a strappy heel.

Embrace Oversized Accessories. Don't be afraid of carrying a large bag or wearing a stack of cool bangles and bracelets. Think of cool, extra-roomy totes, statement necklaces, chandelier earrings and belts as your way of drawing the eye to your favorite feature, not just your stature.

Dare to do something different. This list defiantly DOES NOT talk about all of the options available to plus sized women. All in all, just remember to simply enjoy all of the new options offered by our industry! Try everything you can might surprise yourself :)
